Education Programs

NDF recognizes that every year, over 93,000 children of primary school going age drop out of primary school, and majority of these are girls. In a bid to address this problem, NDF has undertaken the following activities;

Girl’s Bursary Scheme

Since 2004 NDF has been running a primary school bursary scheme for disadvantaged girls. The girls are from very-poor families, or are physically disabled. The bursary items provided to the identified pupils include textbooks, exercise books, pens, pencils, geometry sets, manila papers, sanitary towels, and special learning materials to needy children.   50 Girls from primary schools in seven districts of Uganda are currently being supported under the NDT Bursary Scheme for Disadvantaged Girls.

Advocacy for Girl Child Education

HRH has addressed people in various fora i.e policy makers, community leaders, school heads, youth groups, cultural leaders and opinion leaders on protecting and empowering the girl child.
