Partnership

The North Texas Health Initiative

Her Royal Highness The Nnabagereka, and some of the Board members hosted the team from The North Texas Africa Health Initiative based at the University of Texas at Arlington. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss possibilities of forming a partnership between North Texas Africa Health Initiative and NDF in providing sustainable health services for people living in slum areas, particulalry regarding the feasibility and logistics of establishing a mobile health clinic. During the meeting the discussions were mainly based on the Kampala slums and Kisenyi slum was considered to be the starting point.

The North Texas Africa Health Initiative plans to address health care challenges in Africa through a partnership between African countries and a group of North Texas universities, hospitals and the religious community. This project will equip health care workers with culturally congruent competencies aimed at intensifying awareness, outreach, prevention, and treatment of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases in rural Uganda
